On my road to a deeper understanding of health and wellness I find myself distracted by a plethora of self-help lingo and feel good phrases.
Many of which elevate ‘self’ in an attempt to change my perspective of ME.
I get it. I get the underlying meaning and intention. I get the pick yourself up and ‘git er done’ mentality.
BUT….
As a Christ-follower, as a disciple of Jesus Christ – I must remember this:
Yes, I believe in the power of positive talk.
Yes, I believe in the power of the mind.
Yes, I believe in the ability to accomplish great things.
–
But if I’m placing all of the ability and power in myself to do these things than I’ve just created an idol.
This happens to most of us – while unintentional – we look at our own strength, knowledge and ability to accomplish such great things.
At the crux of this mindset is an elevation of self and without even realizing it – we’ve come to worship and idolize our own power over the power of God.
Let’s not stop growing – but GROW in Christ.
Let’s not stop searching – but SEARCH for more of Him.
Let’s not stop positive thinking – but THINKING on the graces He’s shown to us.
Let’s not stop renewing our mind – but RENEWING by the power of His Spirit.
This is how the true transformation we seek is fulfilled.
Not by the power of our own strength, but by His strength which is made PERFECT in our weakness.
Wellness comes from Within – it comes from Him – He is the only good thing in us.
