Sure, there are small victories and absolutely there are “right now” experiences that fuel our desire to keep going, but if we are honest – the fruit doesn’t show up until lots of prep has been completed and even more time has passed.
I say these things to encourage myself today; my hope is to encourage others as well.
We are all on a path of sorts to someplace. Some of us know where we are going, others have a slight idea and the rest of us well…we honestly, have no clue. {insert phrase here – Not all who wander are lost} In any case, we are writing a story. We are painting a picture. We are seeds taking root with a hope to be in full bloom someday.
Before a woman learns she is pregnant with child a beautiful work has already begun inside of her. She may not have known this right away, but even so, a life is so beautifully being formed in the innermost part of her womb. She then learns of this wonderful news and begins to live each day with the expectation of a new arrival making an appearance soon.
In the beginning stages of development, not many changes are noticeable on the outside, but even so, very important developments are taking place right before our eyes and although they are not manifest at this time on the exterior – we know the process is at work inside of her body.
Of course, we know the process, and within a few months a newly formed baby bump appears and this woman is now showing signs of what is happening on the inside of her. It’s true. A life is being formed – just as she said. This small step is actually a great leap and people around her begin to notice the changes taking place and become expectant with her.
Finally, the time has come and the process of growing this precious seed into a tiny human being has commenced. The fruit of her labor is to arrive. We look on in awe and rejoice with her as she gives birth to a beautifully formed child. The wait is over. The process is complete. So we think.
Of course, all Mothers share in the knowledge that while this process of pregnancy and child-birth may be complete another process has just begun and so it goes the power of the process. Over and over and over.
True wellness comes from within. It’s working – even now as you read this blog – you know it is. That intuitive voice within you that you hush most days, the one that keeps cheering you on – it’s still there cheering you on. You’ve even contemplated quitting, jumping ship or changing course. You’ll never see the fruit if you stop watering now. So what if it’s been 2 days, 2 weeks or 2 years!! Trust the process.
Did you know?? When our minds and bodies become stressed because of waiting or when we try to force things to happen in our time; wellness always lacks. Always. Stress responses kick in. Our minds will literally make-up stories to tell our bodies and the vicious spiral begins. We must give-in to the process. We have to release the need to fight. We must surrender. This is the absolute first step in our understanding of wellness. And it’s the hardest for sure. Which is why so many of us stay stuck. Right. Here.
So hear me out.
The ONLY way is to trust the process. Do the time. Water your seed. Nurture your body. Put in the study. Get up and do it again and again and again. Release perfection. Celebrate each victory. Encourage each other on their journey. Rejoice with each other. Lean into the places that are teaching you something. Learn the lessons. This is the process. Look back each day and notice how much growth has taken place. One day. The fruit of your labor will be displayed in full bloom.
Every day. Every moment. Trust the process.
