I love reading through Psalms.

I’ve highlighted and noted many passages as “favorites” but this particular day Psalm 143 grabbed my attention.

In the midst of losing hope through a deep depression, David expresses his feelings to God.

You can feel the pain as you read his words – he was running from the very people who were after his life.

Hiding in the darkness as they pursued him.

He cries out to God, but if you read intently, you’ll see that his cry for help actually points us all to the very character of God.

And I love verses 4-5 the most:

So my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed. I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done.

Psalm 143:4-5 NIV

Even as he pours his heart out to God, stricken with hopelessness and fear, David remembers the faithfulness of God.

He REMEMBERS.

He MEDITATES.

He CONSIDERS.

And here is the promise – even in the midst of our struggle.

God is faithful.

Perhaps, it’s time to remember the moments when God’s hand of strength pulled us to safety.

God is Faithful.

Perhaps it’s time to meditate on His Word and believe the truths of who He is.

God is Faithful.

And may we consider all His hands have accomplished to bring us to this place of stillness and dependence on Him alone.

God is Faithful.

Stay still, friends.

He’s in this.

He’s never far from us and in our humbleness – His character is displayed.

God is Faithful.
